C inema has always been more than entertainment; it’s an experience. At SineSeryoso PH, we believe that every film, whether it brings us joy, tears, or quiet reflection, deserves to be seen. That’s why we’re introducing Liham sa Pelikula, a fresh way to engage with the films we love—or even the ones that left us wanting more.
What is “Liham sa Pelikula”?
Liham sa Pelikula (translated to Letter to Cinema) is our way of redefining how we talk about films. Instead of traditional reviews, we craft letters—personal, heartfelt, and reflective. These aren’t critiques written from a distance but conversations sparked by the emotions, thoughts, and ideas that a film brings to life.
It’s an approach rooted in sincerity, much like a handwritten letter. Just as a letter captures something intimate and real, Liham sa Pelikula allows us to connect with films on a deeply personal level, honoring them as not just stories but as art that moves and shapes us.
Why letters?
Every moviegoer has felt it—that spark of connection when a film resonates with them. Maybe it’s a line of dialogue that felt like it was meant for you, or a scene so striking it lingers long after the credits roll. These moments deserve more than a star rating or a quick summary; they deserve to be cherished, explored, and shared.
By framing our reviews as letters, we allow ourselves to be vulnerable. A liham can celebrate what worked, question what didn’t, and ultimately reflect on what the film means—not just to us but to our culture and community.
A celebration of Filipino cinema
The launch of Liham sa Pelikula coincides with the ongoing 50th Metro Manila Film Festival, adding to the excitement. Filipino cinema has always been a source of pride and reflection. Through Liham sa Pelikula, we hope to amplify these stories, connecting audiences with films in a way that feels personal.
Our letters won’t just be about the technicalities of filmmaking. They’ll delve into the heart of the matter: the emotions stirred, the questions raised, and the worlds created. Whether it’s a mainstream crowd-pleaser or a quiet indie gem, every film has something to say—and we’re here to listen and respond.
Join the conversation
As we embark on this new journey, we invite you to join us. Watch a film, reflect on what it meant to you, and maybe even write your own letter. What would you say to a film that made you laugh, cry, or think? What questions would you ask, or what moments would you thank it for?
Our first Liham sa Pelikula is coming soon, and we can’t wait to share it with you. Follow us to discover the films that have moved us and the letters we’ve written in response. Let’s celebrate Filipino cinema together—one letter at a time.
