G reen Bones, directed by Zig Dulay and starring Dennis Trillo and Ruru Madrid, tells the story of a notorious killer on the verge of being released from jail and a determined prison officer who would go to any extent to prevent it, despite a lack of legal authority. The film investigates the complex connection between justice, personal vengeance, and moral boundaries.
The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Awards Night celebrated outstanding achievements in Filipino filmmaking with other awards:
Vice Ganda won a Special Jury Citation for pushing outside of his comfort zone, showing artistic progress, and tackling current societal challenges. Topakk and Isang Himala received Special Jury Prizes for reviving the action genre in Philippine cinema and bringing back the Filipino musical while paying tribute to a classic film loved by national artists. Sienna Stevens of Green Bones won Best Child Performer, and her victory speech went popular touching people’s hearts.
Ruru Madrid (Green Bones) and Kakki Teodoro (Isang Himala) received Best Supporting Actor and Actress, while Dennis Trillo (Green Bones) and Judy Ann Santos (Espantaho) won Best Actor and Actress, respectively.
The MMFF is an important venue for recognizing Filipino talent, providing audiences with entertainment and education through films that highlight the country’s culture, stories, and beliefs.
